Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall is to receive a lifetime achievement award from The Radio Academy.
The award honours those whose "work and dedication have left an indelible mark on the music radio industry".
The singer has sold more than 13 millions albums in the UK and won a host of awards including three Brits and two Ivor Novello awards.
Previous winners include Sir Paul McCartney, Paul Weller, Gary Barlow and last year's recipient, Ronnie Wood.
Clive Dickens, the chairman of the Radio Festival praised Hucknall as a "true legend of British music".
The singer will be presented with his award at the Academy's Hall of Fame dinner during this year's Radio Festival in Manchester on 13 November.
The Radio Academy is "a registered charity dedicated to the encouragement, recognition and promotion of excellence in UK broadcasting and audio production".
"I'm delighted that The Radio Academy have chosen to give me their lifetime achievement award this year," the singer said.
"As a singer and songwriter, you just keep doing what you're doing, and it's great to know that the people in radio - people making decisions about what music the world listens to - continue to like what I do, and to support my work."
The evening will also feature the presentation of this year's Radio Academy Fellowships and the induction of a number of UK broadcasters into the Hall of Fame.
