10 Films You Never Would Guess Were Filmed in Vegas

Las Vegas is famous for many reasons, one being the movie industry. Over the years, Vegas has been the setting for many feature films. Most people know the iconic movies filmed in town: "Leaving Las Vegas," "Ocean's 11," "Casino," "Showgirls" and, of course, "Viva Las Vegas." But there also are a number of movies filmed in Sin City that are a bit less obvious.
91. 'Vacation in Reno': (1946) After his wife leaves him and he is the only eyewitness to a robbery, Jack Carroll decides the only solution is to take a vacation to Reno. Through the course of the film, Jack finds himself at odds with a deputy sheriff, a roughneck sailor and a gun moll who tries to convince the police that she is Mrs. Carroll. Worst of all, Jack's wife arrives and wants a divorce. Even though the movie takes place in Reno, this film has many scenes shot in and around Las Vegas.
Valley of Fire92. 'Total Recall': (1990) Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays Douglas Quaid, an Earth-bound construction worker with recurring dreams about Mars. A trip to a false memory transplant service for an imaginary trip to Mars takes a turn for the worse, and another personality comes to light. Partially filmed in the Las Vegas area, "Total Recall" follows Quaid as he scrambles to discover the truth about who he is. Much of the Mars footage actually was theValley of Fire State Park.
93. 'Star Trek: Generations': (1994) Apparently the beautiful desert landscape found in Las Vegas bears a striking resemblance to that of another planet. In "Star Trek: Generations," scenes (including Captain James T. Kirk's death scene) were filmed at theValley of Fire State Park outside Las Vegas. Set in the 24th century, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise-D find themselves face to face with a renegade scientist. Unfortunately for them, the legendary Kirk is the only one who can help them, and he's been dead for 78 years.
Pamela Anderson94. 'Pam and Tommy Lee: Stolen Honeymoon':(1998) The infamous Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee video became one of the world's best-selling adult videotapes. The film, which depicts the very private honeymoon of the "Baywatch" beauty and her heavy-metal husband, was stolen by a contractor remodeling the Lee's home. The homemade movie gave viewers an inside glimpse into the couple's most private moments. The video gained instant notoriety and began selling in masses on the Internet. All the boat scenes in the video were filmed at Lake Mead, just outside Las Vegas.
95. 'Lethal Weapon 4': (1998) In the most recent chapter of the Lethal Weapon series, Martin Riggs (played by Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (played by Danny Glover) are on a mission to stop the Chinese Triads from doing illegal activities in the United States and end up being pursued by mercenaries. Interstate 215 in Las Vegas and Henderson served as the filming location for a heart-stopping car-chase scene in the film.
96. 'Iron Eagle': (1986) Chappy, an Air Force colonel, and Doug, the son of an Air Force pilot, join forces in an attempt to rescue Doug's father, who was shot down by a radical Middle Eastern state. But several scenes from the movie were filmed at the Valley of Fire State Park outside Las Vegas as well as in the Lake Mead area.
97. 'Heldorado': (1946) Roy Rogers plays a Nevada state ranger captain making a trip to Las Vegas for the annual Heldorado Frontier Days Festival. During his trip, Rogers conducts an investigation into counterfeit bills being passed over the gambling tables at the casino. Scenes from "Heldorado" were filmed at the Valley of Fire State Park , in Las Vegas and Boulder City.
98. 'Breakdown': (1997) Kurt Russell (Jeff) and Kathleen Quinlan (Amy) portray a couple relocating to California. As they are driving cross country, their car breaks down in the middle of the desert. Amy accepts a ride to a nearby diner to call for help, but Jeff becomes worried as more time passes without her return. He discovers that his wife never made it to the diner, and she has not been seen or heard from since she left him. Parts of this film were shot at Nelson's Landing, about 25 miles from Boulder City on one of the many desolate roadways found in the area.
Hyatt Regency99. 'Above the Law': (1988) Although this Steven Seagal action movie was set in Chicago, the computer-show scenes were filmed at the November Comdex Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Seagal plays Nico, a vice cop in Chicago investigating a mysterious link between the sale of C-4 explosives, drugs and the CIA.
100. 'America's Sweethearts': (2001) Filmed in and around Las Vegas, "America's Sweethearts" stars John Cusack, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julia Roberts and Billy Crystal. The bulk of the movie takes place at the Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort , where Cusack and Zeta-Jones play actors and former spouses publicizing a new movie in spite of their strained relationship.
